Paddy Power received 109 money-back offers in January, according to a report from online affiliate and betting service, Freebets.com.

The Irish betting firm also won bookmaker of the month for the fifth time, gaining the highest number of total offers, as well as achieving seven of the top 10 individual money-back offers. The company ranked ahead of bet365 and William Hill.

But once again bet365 was awarded individual offer of the month with its Sky Dogs 2/1 deal - allowing any bettor who backs a single winner at 2/1 or more on a live Sky Sports greyhound race to have a risk-free bet to the same stake on the next live Sky Sports greyhound race up to £100.

Four bookmakers – Betway, Stan James, Ladbrokes and William Hill – offered mobile exclusive money-back specials in January 2014 – the same number as December 2013. Stan James entered the list by virtue of its FA Cup 2/1 offer on mobile, while Coral dropped out after making its ‘Money Back If A Faller’ offer available online as well as mobile.

David Archer, owner of Freebets.com, said: “It will not come as much of a shock to the punters that Paddy Power is the winner of January’s money-back crown for the fifth time.”

He continued: “It is clear that the overall number of money-back offers is growing significantly – not just from the dominant industry forces, but from up and coming players such as Betway.”

Danish telecommunications giant TDS A/S to enter an online gambling market

Danish telecommunications giant TDS A/S (formerly Tele Danmark) has voiced its intention to enter an online gambling market that it says is growing by 10 to 15 percent per annum with revenues of around DKK2.5 billion per year.

"All content services that can be digitized, is of fundamental interest to TDC as possible areas of business," confirmed Carsten Dilling, chief executive officer of TDC.  "We already have for several years offered streaming of music, movies & TV series, & it is natural for us to explore whether there are other adjacent business models that may be relevant.

TDC did not divulge whether it is planning to develop its own platform or whether it will partner with an existing provider.

"I do not reveal too much by saying that the ability to operate betting & casino is not a core competency for TDC. But both are well suited to TDC because customers consume our products while they play. Maybe they see a football game on TV while betting on their smartphone or iPad. We are strong in technology & the customer, while supporting us are people who are very competent in online odds & casino," said Dilling.
